If you’re hunting for sports bars downtown San Diego locals actually return to every Sunday, Far Corner at 410 Tenth Ave in East Village is built for it. We’re a scratch-kitchen pizza bar with TVs throughout the room, two bars, small-batch wings and a pool table, a short walk from Park Blvd and Petco Park. Football season runs from September into February, and this is how we run it.

The Football Calendar, in Pacific Time
The 2026 NFL regular season kicked off September 9 and runs through January 10, 2027, according to the CBS Sports 2026 NFL schedule. Standard Sunday windows are 1:00 p.m. and 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. Eastern. Out here, that means the early games start at 10:00 a.m. and the late games at 1:05 or 1:25 p.m.
That West Coast math is a gift. You can watch a full doubleheader and still be home before dinner. Our coffee bar opens at 6 a.m., so an espresso before the early kickoff is easy, and by the late window the wings are already moving.
What Makes a Good Sports Bar in San Diego
Every sports bar in San Diego claims great TVs. Here’s the short list we’d use if we were picking a spot for the season. Can you see a screen from every seat? Is the food worth eating for three hours? Can a group of six find a table without a fight? Will the staff put your game on?
Gaslamp places can check some of those boxes, but you’ll pay for it in crowds and prices. A neighborhood spot on Tenth Ave, where the bartender remembers your team, tends to check more of them. That’s the kind of room we run: game-on, not rowdy.
Chains are built for visitors. They rotate staff, run the same menu in every city and treat a Sunday regular the same as a tourist. The sports bars downtown San Diego residents stick with tend to be independent, close to home and staffed by people who know the neighborhood.
That’s our lane. We’d rather know your name, your team and your wing order by week three than pack the room with strangers once a year. A home bar for the season beats a new bar every Sunday.
What’s on the Table on Game Day
Football food should be better than the frozen stuff. Our kitchen makes pizza from dough fermented 48 to 72 hours, and our full food menu covers the rest of the table: Crunchy Potatoes with guanciale, Steak Bites over kimchi, meatballs, calzones and a Tri-Tip Melt.
Wings are the headliner, and we cook them in small batches so they reach you hot. Buffalo, Sweet Heat with salsa macha and house hot honey, or Salt & Pepper with garlic confit and Calabrian chili. We break down why they taste different in our small-batch wings story. Americans were projected to eat 1.48 billion wings during Super Bowl LX, per the National Chicken Council. Football and wings aren’t a trend. They’re a law of nature.
Drinks for a Long Sunday
A three-hour game needs a drink list with range. Our bar menu pours local draughts like Coronado Weekend Vibes West Coast IPA and Societe Light Beer, plus boilermakers for the fourth quarter and a stirred Old Fashioned when your team is up two scores.
Looking for happy hour downtown San Diego without the Gaslamp markup? Ask your server what’s running that day. On Padres game days we also run game day drink specials: $4 beers, $6 house wines and $6 wells, starting two hours before first pitch.
Bringing a Group? Plan Ahead
Fantasy leagues, alumni clubs and office crews make up a big share of Sunday tables. Walk-ins are always welcome, but a group of eight at 10 a.m. on a big Sunday is a different story. Call us before you show up and we’ll tell you what the room looks like.
For a bigger night, like a draft party, a playoff watch or a Super Bowl gathering, our space works for semi-private setups and full buyouts depending on the date. Book your game day group with our events team and we’ll handle the food, the drinks and the screens.
Getting Here From Anywhere Downtown
Far Corner sits on Tenth Ave in East Village, walking distance from most downtown condos and offices. If you’ve searched for bars near Petco Park, you’ve probably walked past us. The 12th & Imperial and Park & Market trolley stations are both nearby, which beats circling for parking on a busy weekend.
Football season doesn’t end in January. Super Bowl LXI is set for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium, according to SoFi Stadium. That’s a short drive up the coast, but most of us will be watching from a barstool. Plan that party early.
